The success of UK may be temporary when Brexit threated to benefit from studies of the top universities. This year, Oxford still keep its first place as the year before in the world university chart announced in September 5th by Times Higher Education magazine.

Next, the second place was taken by the history rival of Oxford – Cambridge, whose ranked fourth last year in the world university chart. This is also the first time that US does not hold the two first places of the chart. To clarify, the two universities of US are ranked third: Technology Institute of California (Caltech) and Stanford.

The reason behind the success of Oxbridge (Oxford and Cambridge) is the lift of revenue – Oxford’s revenue has increased by 24% and Cambridge’s income has risen up to 11%. However, Caltech’s income decreased by 23% and Stanford’ revenue is down by 24%. In fact, one-fourth of the studies in Cambridge and Oxford are sponsored by EU – an oil well which is started to dry after Brexit.

Nevertheless, according to some critics, these numbers are not telling every aspect which make a university succeeds, especially when it skips the most important factor to students: the potential to get a job.
