ITT – International students need an F-1 visa to successfully enter US to study. What are the US student visa conditions?
Prepare the papers
International students are required to prepare the following:
- Learning materials: diplomas, transcripts, foreign language certificates…
- Identity papers: passport, birth certificate, household registration book, 5cm x 5cm photo taken within 6 months (white background, no hair covering ears, no glasses), parent’s marriage certificate.
- Proof of financial: all documents proving ability to pay tuition fees, living expenses for the first year, financial proof for the remaining years and financial documents are required.
After being accepted by the school, the school sends you Form I-20 for non-immigrant students after approving the application for admission. Students sign this form as one of the US student visa conditions, then pay the SEVIS fee of 350 USD and fill out an additional US nonimmigrant visa application (Form DS-160).
Pay the visa application fee by creating an account on US consulate’s online application page. The fee for applying is 160 USD, but you will pay in VND (the exchange rate is based on HSBC at the present time).
Keep the receipt after paying and then schedule an online interview via the website: https://sforce.co/2k0a3sV
You need to fill in the following information:
- Passport ID.
- Code from the visa receipt.
- A 10-digit code from the Form DS-160 confirmation page.
Go to an interview
On the date of your appointment, you go to US Embassy or US Consulate for an interview, bring the required documents including an appointment, Form DS-160, photo card taken in the last 6 months, current passport and visa receipt. In addition, international students prepare additional documents to prove that they will return home after school time, study materials and financial documents.
During the interview, staff will ask you about your program of study in US, your study goals and your future plans. You need to convince them that you have a clear US study path and will return home after finishing the program.
US student visa conditions and US student visa procedures last for 60 days or more. From interview schedule to interview date, it takes 9 days (if applying in Hanoi) and 4 days (if applying in HCMC).
