Activate for studying abroad during the spring semester

ITT – These days, a series of major overseas study markets in the world such as the US, Australia, and the UK have come up with many plans to prepare the wave of international students coming back for studying abroad during the spring semester.

International universities all believe that if they do not quickly open their doors, international students can move to “rival” countries in the upcoming “post-COVID-19”.

Pay all fees to pick up students

The Age (Australia) reported that international students can return to their next Victorian universities if the new education proposal is approved. The Victorian government is considering a plan to bring 23,000 international students to this state from the beginning of 2021, and at the same time create all conditions for student isolation.

Scape – Australia’s largest student accommodation company – will be one of the “big bosses” behind the program. Mr. Craig Carracher – Scape CEO – said it is expected that 23,000 international students will return to Victoria from April 2021.

Students will travel to Australia on flights paid for by accommodation companies, then quarantine at private student–only facilities. We are responsible for 24/7 student care, security, and management,” Carracher told The Age.

At the end of November, ABC News (Australia) reported that a special flight carrying 63 international students had arrived at Charles Darwin University (North Australia). This is the first step in a pilot program to restart for studying abroad during the spring semester.

Students must be negative at least 72 days prior to boarding, after which an additional 14 days will be charged to Australia. Charles Darwin University pays all the cost of plane tickets, tests, and quarantines, just because it is too “thirsty” for international students.

Ms. Gladys Berejiklian – the Premier of New South Wales – is also considering piloting the return of 1,000 students/week to the state to begin to partially offset the serious shortage of international students in 2020.

Not fast will lose “piece of cake”

Not only Australia, but universities in the US also began to loosen the rules to welcome more students for studying abroad during the spring semester.

At this point, the University of San Diego (California) prepared accommodation for more than 11,000 students in the dormitory, while Princeton University (New Jersey) increased the number of students able to study on campus from January 1, 2021, from under 500 to more than 5,000 people.

Cornell University (New York) plans to welcome about 19,500 students living in or around the school during the spring semester.

Up to now, more than 80% of students enrolled in concentrated study. Brown University (Rhode Island) and Harvard University (Massachusetts) also doubled the number of students coming to study directly in the new school year.

According to a recent survey of more than 700 universities in the US, international students coming to the US decreased by 43% in the fall 2020 period.

Meanwhile, the statistics of American Institute of International Education published in late November showed that the total number of international students in US this school year decreased to 1.8 million. This is the first time the number of international students in this country has decreased in more than a decade.
