What top 10 is Vietnamese education system in?

ITT – At the conference “Education in the digital technology background”, Chairman of the Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children announced the Education Revolution results in Vietnam. What top 10 is Vietnamese education system in?

The report cited data on a quarter of the world’s school-ongoing children, approximately 331 million live in East Asia and the Pacific. Up to 40 percent of them attend schools in education systems whose students are ahead of the average students in OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries. These schools are also in middle-income countries such as China and Vietnam.

As the report highlights, students’ performance is not necessarily tied to a country’s income level. By age 10, for example, the average Vietnamese student outperforms all but the top students in India, Peru and Ethiopia.

According to the WB, Chinese and Vietnamese education system are considered “particularly encouraging” in the circumstance that these countries have lower per capita income and lack of resources for education compared to other countries.

Since Vietnam participated in international assessment programs that have been standardized and achieved high results, there has been much debate about this ranking index.

Asked about the real queries about that top 10, Mr. Tran Hong Quan, former Minister of Education and Training, acknowledged that Vietnamese education system has achieved many accomplishments more than before (while further education still has many problems).

However, it is impossible to base on this ranking to evaluate the education system. Besides the work that has been done, there are still dark sides, which require to be taken together in order to find solutions such as the “trillion” projects that have a lot of talk over time. The solution cannot just draw experience, ask for more funding, or extend the deadline.
