ITT – About one-fifth of world population use Chinese as their main language. Thanks to the fascination of China’s language, cultural heritage and strong economy, Chinese becomes one of the most popular languages in the world.
Learning Chinese has some difficulties:
- There are 214Kangxi radicals forming a system of radicals of Chinese logogram characters which are very complicated and hard to learn.
- Chinese has two forms which are traditional and simplified forms. They both have many rules of writing and grammar.
- Some syllables in Chinese are difficult to pronounce such as z, c, s, zh, ch, sh or j, q and x.
- Chinese has only four tones but it is not easy to pronounce these tones correctly. The tones are marked from one to four and they have different pitches and rules of usage.
Therefore, finding the appropriate Chinese learning method is necessary.
- Learn the standard Chinese phonetic alphabet and practice pronunciation every day.
- Practice speaking Chinese for different situations from basic to advanced level
- Try not to translate in your head and start thinking directly in Chinese when communicating with other people.

- Listen from simple sentences to complicated paragraphs
- For beginners, it is essential to learn by heart important and common Chinese characters and the rules for making words before learning how to write.
