ITT – The need for studying at international programs or at international schools is increasing significantly. Even the MOET of Vietnam is developing programs which include teaching sciences subjects in English. These programs are popular in developing countries such as Singapore, Canada, Australia… However, in Vietnam, they are still quite new, making parents and students worried. Hence, they start looking for tutoring centers offering Math, Physics and Chemistry courses to support them.
Why should we teach and learn Math, Physics and Chemistry? The reason is that Vietnam is in international integration process. In order to increase oneself and the country’s human resources’ career opportunities, individuals must have higher education. They cannot just stop at mastering communicative English only, they need to be better and meet the requirements for knowledge of different scientific fields so that they can catch up. For those who plan to study abroad, studying sciences subjects in English is also important because universities usually require IB, AP, A-level, IGCSE, SAT certification for admission.
Acknowledging the need, many schools in Vietnam offer teaching sciences subjects in English in integrated programs in order to help students acquire new learning methods, cross the language barrier and approach global knowledge base so that they can gradually form their initiative, common sense and confidence as they would when they studying in international environment.
However, the drawback is that since they are new programs, new learning methods, many students still cannot get familiar with, sometimes even cannot understand lessons with just a few learning hours at schools. And because they are new, finding a tutoring center offering these courses is also hard. Even though many start to understand the increasing demand, the number of centers which are able to offer sciences in English courses with new learning methods is still small. For centers which offers these course, the teachers and tutors base is limited as there are not many who are experienced with these programs and are able to teach in English well, not to mention the fact that this is new so some centers may unable to teach effectively. Despite the small number of supply, the demand is still increasing, making parents and students look for places offering Math, Physics and Chemistry courses more.
