SAT 2 exam and things need to know

ITT – SAT is a standardized exam which widely used for college admissions in the United States. SAT certificate is a ticket to entrance exam in US universities. However, not many people understand SAT exam which including SAT 1 and SAT 2. Thus, what is SAT 2 exam?

SAT 2 exam (SAT Subject Test) assesses the ability of students in a specific major. This exam is not common in Vietnam and does not require in selection standard of universities in US. However, in order to apply top universities of US such as Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, MIT, Brown… or to get scholarship from these universities, SAT 2 will be persuasive point of your profile. Besides, SAT 2 helps candidates to improve their language skills.

SAT 2 includes 22 subjects: English, Chinese, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Hebrew (Jewish) modern, Latin, Foreign language, Literature, History: American history, world history, Math (1&2), Biology, Chemistry, Physics… Depending on major, candidates can choose suitable subjects involved to their study program. Generally, in US, universities require 3 subjects for each major. SAT 2 can assess student’s ability in each subject exactly. Whether you choose any subject, writing exam is requirement. Writing test includes a short essay (20 minutes) and some multiple-choices (40 minutes). The other subjects are multiple choices and time is 60 minutes for each subject.

As other certificates, there is no specific score of SAT 2 exam. However, your average scores in each subject should be 750. If the score is lower than 750, it maybe fail and effects to assessment. SAT 2 score is chance for you to show ability which the profile can’t be and creates different from other profiles.

In Vietnam, SAT 2 is held 6 times per year, on the first morning Saturday of each month: January, May, June, October, November, December. You can’t take both SAT 1 and SAT 2 in a month because it is taken at the same time.
