Biology in English test

Currently, there are many international programs being taught in Vietnam such as IB, AP, IGCSE, A-level… Each program will have its own structure of Biology in English test, such as the AP Biology exam structure as follows:

  • Part 1: Multiple choice tests, consisting of 60 questions (discrete questions, set questions, and math questions), done in 90 minutes, accounting for 50% of the total score.
  • Part 2: Free section, consisting of 6 questions (2 long questions focusing on evaluating test results and 4 short questions about the scientific investigation, conceptual analysis, model analysis or visual representation, analyzing data), done in 90 minutes, accounting for 50% of the total score.

Meanwhile, the IB Biology exam structure will include 3 tests as follows:

Standard Level (SL)Higher Level (HL)
Test 1: 30 multiple-choice questions, 45 minutes, 20% total score

– Calculator is not allowed

– There is no deduction for choosing the wrong answer

Test 1: 40 multiple-choice questions, 60 minutes, 20% total score

– Calculator is not allowed

– There is no deduction for choosing the wrong answer

Test 2: 75 minutes, 40% total score, includes 2 parts (calculator is allowed):

Part A: Data-based questions, short-answer, and extended-answer questions

Part B: Choose two out of three extended answer questions

Test 2: 135 minutes, 36% total score, includes 2 parts (calculator is allowed):

Part A: Data-based questions, short-answer, and extended-answer questions

Part B: Choose two out of three extended answer questions

Test 3: 60 minutes, 20% total score, includes 2 parts (calculator is allowed):

Part A: Answer all questions, two to three short answer questions based on experimental skills and techniques, analysis and evaluation, using the invisible data associated with the learning materials

Part B: Short answers and extended answers from one choice

Test 3: 75 minutes, 24% total score, includes 2 parts (calculator is allowed):

Part A: Answer all questions, two to three short answer questions based on experimental skills and techniques, analysis and evaluation, using the invisible data associated with the learning materials

Part B: Short answers and extended answers from one choice
