In common, both programs are under the management of Cambridge (UK) and take place within 2 years. In addition, the examinations of these two international programs are organized by the British Council.

As for the curriculum, there are some compulsory subjects and also some electives. Whether studying IGCSE or A-level, students have a huge advantage in preparing foundation knowledge for higher programs. Instead of studying from 11 to 13 subjects like in Vietnam, IGCSE and A-level students will focus on a list of subjects that they choose to suit their career orientation. IGCSE vs. A-level – Different

In terms of age, IGCSE is a program for students from 14 to 17 years old (grade 9-10) and is a prerequisite to study pre-university programs, including A-level (grade 11-12).

Regarding the rating system and the division level, for IGCSE, the subjects are divided into 2 levels: Core and Extended, the rating system from A* to G. Meanwhile, the scale of A-level will be A* to E and there is no division of levels.

The subjects are also different. For A-level, students can choose from 4 to 6 subjects in the AS Level year. In an A-level year, students will choose 3 subjects in the subjects from AS Level year related to the field they will choose to take university entrance exams. For IGCSE, students can choose from 6 to 9 subjects, in which students can choose a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 subjects for Extended.

Regarding the structure of the test, depending on the output purpose of the program, the content knowledge and skills that students must grasp from the respective programs will not be the same. That is the answer to the question what are the differences between IGCSE and A-level.
