What do we learn Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for?

ITT – The integrated programs which includes Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology is not only popular in international schools but also becoming more and more popular in public schools since recently, the MOET start to encourage teaching them. So, what do we learn these subjects for?

Studying subjects of public program in Vietnamese has already been a challenge for students then the question is, why should we learn Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology? It is true that if they learn integrated programs, it would be much more difficult for students. However, the benefit these programs bring to the students in the future should be considered.

There are more and more students want to gain IB, AP, IGCSE, A-level… certification so that they may have the chance to be admitted in the most prestigious universities of the world. In order to do that, they do not only need good communication English skills but they also need to master fundamental knowledge of Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Having all of them, students surely will have the best result for the certification they wanted and achieve their goal.

Aside from that, Vietnam is opening up door and expanding its relation with countries around the globe so that they can catch up with the development pace of the world. This requires students to have a change in their way of learning, reasoning, logical thinking and be more active than before. Learning Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology of international or integrated programs can help them with that. It not only enhances the academic English vocabulary of students but also develops necessary understanding so that students can adapt easily with the international environment and know how to approach, face and solve practical problems.

Understanding the benefits these programs bring, many schools have applied them in their teaching. However, the number of teachers who are qualified teaching these programs is still limited and school hours sometimes are not enough. Therefore, many have chosen to have extra classes for Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in English at centers. Tutoring are also a good but parents should be considered and careful in researching the goals and teaching method of a center so that it is suitable for their children. Only by doing so, their learning can be improved and the efficiency can be enhanced.
