IGCSE stands for International General Certificate of Secondary Education, an universal education program for students aged 14 to 16, developed by Cambridge International Examinations.
This is the largest nonprofit educational institution in the world, offering international education programs and degrees for students from elementary to high school under Cambridge. IGCSE is recognized by all of the world’s leading universities, providing a solid foundation for entry into higher education programs such as IB, AP, A-level.

IGCSE lasts for 2 years, there are over 70 subjects, each student can choose from 6 to 9 subjects depending on their ability and interests, usually select 6 subjects. Each subject in IGCSE program is divided into two levels for students to choose: Core and Extended.
- For Core: The program is designed to primarily teaching the most basic knowledge.
- For Extended: The program includes Core knowledge and advanced knowledge.
Each subject has a score of A* to G, and U (ungraded) is considered unclassified. Grade A* are very rare for students to achieve, usually a student must achieve grade C or higher to apply to higher programs.
In addition, IGCSE score is based on the final exam, which means that students can complete self-study at home or take IGCSE at any center, then enroll for the exam at the institution authorized by CIE.
