ITT – For some parents and students new to international education programs, they often make a mistake when distinguishing between SSAT and SAT. So what is the difference between SSAT and SAT?

SSATSSAT is a standardized entrance exam for students in grades 5-11 entering private 2-3 schools in the US. The test was developed and administered by The Secondary School Admission Test Board (SSATB). SSAT is designed to assess students’ ability in core subjects. Here’s the difference between SSAT and SAT.

SSAT is divided into 3 levels:

·        SSAT Elementary is a test for students in grades 3-4 that will take 2 hours 5 minutes. The test consists of Math, Verbal, and Writing (not be scored).

·        SSAT Middle and SSAT Upper are taking exams for students in grades 5-7 and 8-11, respectively, for 3 hours 5 minutes. The test consists of Math, Verbal, and Writing (not be scored) with a level higher than Elementary.

To complete, students need to take the SSAT exam for selected courses.

Points are divided into 3 levels:

·        Elementary 3-4 (900-1800)

·        Middle 5-6-7 (1320-2130)

·        Upper 8-9-10 (1500- 2400)

SATSAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is a popular exam used by many universities and colleges in the US to assess students’ natural – social knowledge and ability to think logically. Here’s the difference between SSAT and SAT.

SAT is divided into 2 levels:

·        SAT 1 (General Test) is a compulsory certificate for admission in the US. The test consists of 3 parts: Math, Reading Comprehension, Writing, and Essay, in which this essay is not scored. The test takes 3 hours and 50 minutes.

·        SAT 2 (Subject Test) is when you want to apply to highly competitive schools, you can choose to take this exam. The subjects must follow the requirements of the schools, usually will choose 3 subjects out of more than 20 subjects such as Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, American History, World History, etc. The test takes 3 hours and 20 minutes.

To complete, students need to take the SAT for selected courses.

·        SAT 1 total score from 400 to 1600.

·        SAT 2 total score from 600 to 2400.
