ITT – With the desire to be open up to the world, students have attended international programs in order to approach to their dreams. It is known that one of these programs are IB, AP, A-level, IGCSE, SAT… So what is international program?
Instead of learning standard curriculums of high school’s programs, students choose to learn different curriculums of different educational systems coming from advanced education of many countries in the world. So you know what is international program?
Among those programs there is IB (International Baccalaureate), which is the most popular in the present, and is considered as the best preparation for university in the world. This program lasts two years, and students are required to take 6 subjects of 5 different fields such as Language, Human Culture, Sciences, Mathematics and Art.
AP (Advanced Placement) is comparatively popular in US and Canada, managed by College Board – the unit organizing SAT and TOEFL contests. These classes are offered to help students to get the university credits when they are still study in high school. The knowledge of AP is rather higher than normal programs and equivalent to the knowledge of the first year at university.
A-level, which is equivalent to the program of grade 11 – 12 in Vietnam, is considered as a passport to famous universities, especially in the field of mechanics, medicine and law. A-level is split into two parts, in which the first year, consisting of 4 to 6 subjects, is called AS-level. For the second year, students have to take three of the subjects in from their first year to continue studying, and then they have tests to finish the course.
IGCSE is recognized globally for students from 14 – 16 years old, especially students who have desire to study educational programs abroad or at international schools. The program includes 3 main subjects which are English, Mathematics, Sciences along with 5 – 6 other elective subjects.
SAT, a standardized test, is used for entrance exam to universities in US. The SAT tests consist of problems which concern about reasoning and analyzing skills of fixed subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology…
With these information, the question “What is international program?” is answered satisfactorily. Almost every students taking these courses hope that they will have an opportunity to experience studying aboard through hunting scholarship programs or self-sufficient studying oversea.
